THE WATER PROJECT

Giving the gift of clean water

e3kids strives to reduce suffering from the effects of contaminated water in order to improve the health of students, teachers, and the school community.
Working with the Royal Kids School in Mombasa, Kenya, e3kids brings health and healing through Uzima water filter buckets.

Clean water begins a cycle of empowerment that impacts communities at large. More time in school due to improved health allows students a better education, which later facilitates their ability to achieve bigger career and life goals. Less money spent by families on medication that treats preventable diseases or mineral water that still is hazardous for their health means more money spent on their children’s school fees and clothing.

e3kids equips the school community with water filter buckets in order to empower students’ education through improved health.

How do the Uzima Water Filters work?

  • Uzima stands for “to be filled and overflowing with life” in the language of Swahili.
  • The filters are easy to use, low cost, durable, and most importantly, effective in removing bacteria and water borne contaminates.
  • Uzima Water Filters are equipped with Hollow Fiber Membrane (HFM) technology, which allows nothing larger than 0.1 microns (including bacteria, cysts, protozoa, etc.) to pass through. In total, “over 99.9% of the bacteria that cause waterborne disease” is filtered out of the water.
  • Maintenance includes “back flushing clean water through the filter using the included filter cleaner.” With proper maintenance, one filter can last up to ten years and provide 1 million gallons of safe water to members of the school community.
  • A Uzima water filter purchase includes a filter, bucket connector, syringe, and water tap.

What have we done so far?

  • Over 150 water buckets have been implemented in the school system.
  • Community leaders, teachers, and parents of the most vulnerable children were trained on the importance of hygiene and how to keep and maintain the filter buckets.
  • There is noticeable improvement in the health of teachers, students, and their families just weeks after the implementation of water filter buckets.
  • E3 has partnered with US schools and organizations to raise funds and educate students on international affairs.

What do we hope to do?

  • Provide 300-350 buckets for families (approximately $19,500-$22,750)

How can I help?

You can enable a Kenyan family to experience a life-changing improvement in health and well-being.

  • Just $65 provides 1 filter bucket system, or 1 million gallons of clean water and an improved standard of living for the school community.
  • Buy Water beads! Your purchase of 5 bracelets gives 1 family the extraordinary gift of water.
